Formerly NYU’s Main Building, the Silver Center for Arts and Science (Alfred Zucker, 1892) on Washington Square is the home of the University’s College of Arts and Science and the Grey Art Gallery. SUPERSTRUCTURES provided investigation, design, and construction administration services to restore the building’s envelope.
Restoration work included: restoration of cracked and spalled terra cotta, stone, and brick masonry; balcony repairs; loose railing restoration; and stone masonry joint repointing. The project also included deteriorated door sill restoration, plaster parging on brick masonry, metal coping restoration, and restoration of parapet expansion joints.
