The massive North Academic Center was completed in 1984. It houses classrooms, two cafeterias, the Cohen Library, student lounges and centers, and administrative offices. The design of the building is meant to suggest a ship's bow from various angles. SUPERSTRUCTURES was retained to address unsafe conditions identified during a Local Law 11 Inspection. Work included replacement of cracked masonry units, replacement of brick veneer at the chimney, repair of spalled concrete on exterior spandrel beams and columns and metal railing repair. The firm provided investigation, design and construction administration services.
