Church of St. Francis Xavier, 30 West 16th Street

This Renaissance revival style church was constructed in 1878 under the direction of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York. Designed with reference to traditional basilica plans, the building has a granite facade and features elaborate stained glass Tiffany windows. The perimeter walls are load bearing brick masonry atop which rises the wood framed roof structure finished with slate tiles. SUPERSTRUCTURESprovided investigation, design, and construction administration services.
