New York University, 370 Jay Street
Brooklyn, NY

370 Jay Street is a 17-story, steel-framed, limestone-clad commercial office tower owned by New York University. The building had undergone a facade restoration on floors 2-16 since it was purchased by NYU from the MTA. SUPERSTRUCTURES conducted a critical examination of the building’s envelope and produced a design to remediate documented deficiencies. The condition of its limestone facade was typical of those which have undergone a long rehabilitation, including replacement of all fenestration. SUPERSTRUCTURES’ project included facade cleaning, Dutchman repairs, patching, and pointing, refacing the limestone parapet with new limestone and resetting large overhanging cornice/coping units. Brick masonry and stucco was restored on rear facades and the roofing system was replaced.
