Up Where We Belong

Through our work on landmarks like the David Dinkins Municipal building, we’re afforded amazing views of the city—vistas that more New Yorkers should experience. Mayor Mamdani agrees, announcing the city’s decision to reopen the rooftop observation deck of the McKim, Mead & White 1914 masterpiece.

Originally intended to be open to the public, the building’s cupola has been off limits for nearly 100 years. Now, SUPERSTRUCTURES is conducting a project to restore the relevant section of the tower to make the 35th floor observation deck safe for future visitors.

Restoration work and enhancements will include masonry restoration, installation of waterproofing, and installation of glass barriers to supplement the cupola’s railings between columns.

The mayor’s announcement characterized the project as an effort “to restore this one-of-a-kind civic space to a landmark befitting Mayor Dinkins’ name.” We’re honored to support this campaign to recreate a must-see destination for the city’s residents and visitors.
