New York City Department of Education Office Building
Brooklyn, NY

This 18-story building in downtown Brooklyn was designed by architect Richard Roth and built in 1963. SUPERSTRUCTURES surveyed the facade visually from ground level, at setbacks, and at partial scaffolding. The curtain wall system and ribbon windows, original to the building, were experiencing systematic deterioration due to failure of system components. SUPERSTRUCTURES provided design services for a scope including removal and replacement of existing glass, gaskets, sealants and interior aluminum trim at curtain walls, and removal and replacement of all fixed and venting aluminum windows, as well as removal and replacement of cracked masonry units, and masonry repointing.
