SUPERSTRUCTURES completed a multi-phased restoration of 8 landmarked buildings. A team comprising in-house preservationists, architects, structural engineers, materials scientists and non-destructive investigators–each combined forces to develop the best available long-term, project-specific solution. In the case of Fort Totten, we recommended a vinyl-clad wooden window matching the profile of the originals. This satisfied the requirement for historic material and the vinyl skin will prove more durable than a painted finish. Double glazing provides an extra measure of energy efficiency. In addition to the window replacements the exterior restoration work included the brick façade, the slate and flat roofs, custom decorative wood cornices and fasciae, wood porch repairs, and the marble water table.
