President Kennedy’s 1962 proclamation that “we choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard,” is often cited as an example of intrepid determination. It also applies to our practice of exterior restoration.
SUPERSTRUCTURES welcomes challenging projects, not because they are predetermined to be easy or hard, but because they are worth accomplishing (though hopefully, easy). From the first application of our Asset Information Management (AIM) system to our emerging use of drones and reality capture, we have pushed the restoration envelope for decades.
This spirit of continuous improvement is a major driver in our campaign to bring the art and science of restoration into the 21st century where it belongs. In some cases, there are few, if any, firms that can accomplish the difficult assignments that we pursue, and we take pride in our ability to complete them successfully.
The next line in Kennedy’s speech is less well known: “because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills.” We embrace that idea, too; each new challenge is an opportunity to learn and reinforce our confidence going into the next one.
