SUPERSTRUCTURES was retained by DASNY to conduct an envelope investigation and restoration campaign to address defects on NYC College of Technology’s “G” building in downtown Brooklyn. The firm performed a close-up inspection via boom lift with a sounding hammer to evaluate defects in the building’s brick masonry, limestone, and terra cotta. The restoration scope included a range of repairs to make the building envelope safe and watertight: masonry replacement, pinning, and repointing; lintel replacement; limestone and terra cotta corner reconstruction; steel coating; and expansion joint sealant replacement.
