For the 11 Howard Hotel, hospitality begins with the building’s facade. Built in 1961 as a postal storage facility and converted to a hotel in 1992, The 14-story hotel stands at the edge of the SoHo-Cast Iron Historic District. SUPERSTRUCTURES conducted a FISP Cycle 8A facade examination and subsequent restoration project for the building’s masonry and EIFS-clad envelope.
The project includes brick corner reconstruction and repointing, cracked and spalled masonry unit replacement, spandrel restoration, metal coping replacement, steel lintel restoration, and joint sealant replacement.
