Stony Brook University, Staller Center for the Arts
Stony Brook, NY
The Staller Center for the Arts was built in the mid-1970’s. SUPERSTRUCTURES was retained to design an entirely new replacement curtain wall system, entry doors and new ceilings. Architectural, structural engineering and cost estimating services were provided along with management of a consulting MEP firm providing services in connection with sprinklers and lighting and an environmental consultant addressing asbestos and lead paint. For the curtain wall system the firm conducted a comparative analysis evaluating options on the basis of adaptability to existing conditions, cost, and ability to meet construction code standards on energy efficiency and monitored laboratory air and water testing.
