CBS Headquarters, 51 West 52nd Street
New York, NY
The first post-war reinforced concrete skyscraper, this New York City Landmarked building was the last completed work of master architect Eero Saarinen, whose goal was to build the simplest skyscraper in New York. Sheathed in Canadian black granite with gray-tinted vision glass, the building, which served as CBS’ Headquarters, was nicknamed Blackrock. The 38-story commercial building, which has a granite and glass façade on a concrete structural frame, was constructed in 1965. The program encompassed the facade, roof, windows, curtain wall, and plaza. SUPERSTRUCTURES provided due diligence, investigation services and prepared a conditions report for a prospective buyer.
