LaGuardia International Airport
Central Terminal Building

Queens, NY

Unlike probes, non-destructive testing can be used to assess large roof surfaces. This six-block-long terminal built in 1964 covers 120,000 square feet. The PVC membrane was highly reflective of infrared, so SUPERSTRUCTURES used electrical capacitance testing to scan the entire roof in two days. Also, a section of the roof above had torn off; pull-out testing was performed at the perimeters of every section and proved that the section directly below the missing section required expedited repair.
